My Support System

Throughout my pregnancy, I searched and searched for help and information about my multiple pregnancy. There were tons of sites but I found the most support from the Parents of Triplets Club.

Below are words of encouragement, support, tips & advice that I received from other Higher Order Multiple Parents (Parents of twins, triplets, quads or other higher order multiples). These messages have helped me a lot & I am so greatful to have found such a wonderful support group that is dedicated to helping others.

I hope some of you find the comments I received from these Mothers helpful, I know I did!

Triplets to Quads

I recently wrote to a group that I joined called Parents of Triplets Club. I told them of my most recent news and I got overwhelming responses that I wanted to share with you. I choked up each time I saw the number 4 or read the word quadruplets. It’s still hard for me to believe but here’s the note I wrote:

Hello Everyone,
First of all I would like to thank you for welcoming me into the
group. I’ve meant to write sooner but with the holidays, everything
has just been so hectic.

No excuses though right?! Well this past Friday I had a little bit
of a scare. I was taken to the hospital at 15 weeks due to heavy
bleeding. I was so scared but prepared for the worst. After nearly
3 days in the hospital they said everything was okay and that one of
the babies were probably just pushing up on my placenta and caused
it to bleed.

They also informed us that there was another baby. Yes 4 instead of
3 is what the doctor said. My husband and I were both teary eyed
and dumbfounded. We didn’t know what to think or what to do (still
don’t).

I went to see a specialist for the first time today and they
confirmed that we were indeed having quadruplets…2 boys and 2
girls! What on earth are we going to do and does this mean I can’t
be apart of this group anymore…Parents of TRIPLETS?! LOL!
Help…I need advice!!!

Aloha,
Sabrina C

Thanks!!! RE: Triplets to Quads

Thanks to each and every one of you who replied to my original
post, “Triplets to Quads”. The responses were so overwhelming that
I wasn’t able to write back right away. There wasn’t a single reply
that didn’t make me cry. I choked up everytime I saw the number 4
or read the word “quadruplets” or “quads”. It still hasn’t sunken
in yet but I know I still have to take it easy regardless.

I would really like to stay here in this group. I searched and
searched for a quad group but there is none that offers as much
support as this. They have many quad groups that are seperated by 6
month intervals (i.e. Jan-Jun 2007). But tell me how many quads are
born within a 6 month period. There would hardly be anyone in the
group to converse with!

Well to answer a few questions, I am at 16 weeks now. I haven’t had
any specific instructions for complete bed rest except from my
dh…=) All I was told is that I need pelvic rest, no work & that
no one would probably hire me anyway…lol! I was also told to get
my issues in order because I’d most likely be hospitalized after 24
weeks with or without complications & that quads are usually born
between 28-30 weeks. That means I’ll probably be in the hospital in
2 months and give birth in 3 months. I just hope they all stay in
there as long as they can so their time in NICU won’t be as
lengthy. Thanks again and I’ll be sure to keep you updated.

Mahalo a nui loa,
(Thank you VERY much - Hawaiian)

Help!!! Sleeping Arrangements & Registry Sites

Okay guys, I got another dilemma for you. It just hit me that I’ll
be giving birth in a few months and I haven’t bought a single thing
for the babies yet. I guess I’ve been waiting to see how far along
I got and what I was having. Now that I know, I need to get on it
FAST!!!

All of our family & friends are either in Hawaii or Illinois so
we’ll be needing to sign up for gift registries. Is there any
particular site that you’d recommend besides BabiesRus, Walmart &
Target? I’ve already signed up for those.

And here’s my biggest problem. I don’t know whether we’ll need 1
crib, 2 cribs or 4 bassinets (we definately can’t fit 4 cribs in
here). We don’t have much room but hopefully that will change
shortly after I give birth.

What about swings, bouncers, baby tubs & high chairs. I don’t
really need 1 for each baby right, or will I?

I know it’s really a personal prefferance but I don’t know what to
assume and I’d like to know what worked best for you folks. And is
there any particular items that are a must have to make my life
easier? i.e birth pillows, bottle racks, diaper pails etc. I know
that when my daughter was born I never used the diaper genie at
all. I found it to be too complicated and too expensive for
refills. Will I actually have time to use it now with 4x the
diapers? There are just sooo many things out there on the market
now that were never available 9 years ago.

Please help! I know someone was asking about car seats not too long
ago. I don’t know how I’d be able to fit 4 car seats in our
Expedition. We have 3 rows but the 3rd row isn’t safe for a car
seat right? Any particular brand/type of car seat you’d recommend
that you know and love that would last long? Sorry for all the
questions but I have no where else to turn to.

Thanks for all your help,
Sabrina C.
